NEW YEAR WISHES FOR 2009

Brisk mornings, languid afternoons, rosy evenings, dreamy nights;

expanding horizons, exhilarating rides, myriad experiences;

steaming coffee, dollops of ice cream, iced tea, gin & lime;

chasing dreams, fulfilling promises, a sense of anticipation;

standing tall, towering victories, smart moves, courage under fire;

misty valleys, sunflower fields, stony brooks, green pastures;

crisp words, passionate embrace, lingering touch, a fleeting glance;

remembering past, visions of future, new beginnings into unchartered territory.

Hope that 2009 brings all this and much more to all of us.

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

When I saw this picture on the sonography machine, it was love at first sight! In one instant I had fallen truely, madly, deeply in love - with our unborn child. Somehow I could connect with this lump of mass inside Bhawana's growing girth in a way that I had never thought possible. At that very moment I realized that my parents loved me more than I had ever imagined. That kind of unconditional love can only be experienced, there's nothing that can describe it. I am getting all squishy inside, so I'd better move along before meri aur aapki aankein bhar aaye.

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.

A STRANGE ATTRACTOR

THE STRANGE ATTRACTOR: My alter ego - The thing just loves running around in 3 dimensional spaces, jumping from one dimension to the next with such frivolous ease that the 3 dimensions seem hopelessly inadequate to contain it, and yet... if you take the trouble of getting to know it over an extended period of time, you realize the method in its madness. From a seemingly chaotic and meaningless existance emerges unparalleled beauty and organization. Therefore, my friends, don't be too quick in passing judgment on my wayward and meandering ways. In time you shall see the majesty of the Strange Attractor called Ashish Verma.

"It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishment the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul."
- William Ernest Henly
